So after 14 years of dedication and hard work Mike has finally finished his medical training. YEAH!!! We are so proud of Mike and everything he has accomplished.
I think that the last 2 years in Alabama have been the most exciting and fun for Mike. It was great to be able to watch him develop into an excellent doctor and skilled surgeon (from what people tell me!). I loved to see him so excited after a big case and to then see him so pleased with himself when he saw the patient post op. He has truly matured into a caring doctor that wants what is best for his patient and perfects his skills to achieve the best possible result.
Dr. Long and Matt (Dr. Vicinanzo, the previous years fellow who stayed on to practice with Dr. Long) became not only great mentors but friends that we will have for a lifetime. Matt's wife Erin and I also had the chance to become great friends. Since the baby was born we spent many a weekends at their house for dinner. I will miss them so much!
So anyway, Mike graduated and the University had a very nice dinner for the residents and fellows. Matt gave Mike his certificate since Dr. Long was out of town. Brooke also came for the big event but secretly I think it was for one last hug from Liam :). It was a great night!
